Re: Domestic Violence (Case 1)

poor woman... being in a voilent relationship is horrible,i put up with it for 3 years.. before getting out when he left the country.. i never dared go to the police about it though still wouldnt now and it was over 2 years ago.
WHY would you put up with THAT shit for THREE YEARS??????????
You didn't "get out".... he left and therefore LET you out..... You'd have stayed in it until he killed you.

Look lady, if you've never been in that situation, then you are not experienced enough to judge. Let me make it simple for you and some other people who say shit like this. Everyone has their theory as to why a woman would stay with a violent man, some say they are conditioned that way by the bastard, etc, or they love him. I was in an extremely violent relationship for 11 years, from age 17 to 28. The reason I stayed with him, I was fucking terrified of him and as I had no family of my own or a support network, I didn't feel that I had any choice, other than to put up with it. Constantly I was dreaming and trying to plan about getting away from him, but was terrified he would find me and kill me, like he always promised. This crazy man, broke bones in my body, I now live with metal plates and pins and all sorts of old untreated injuries. It wasn't until I saw that other people weren't like that, I realised it wasn't right and I would be protected by the authorities and left the bastard. I now live with my 2 kids who are also mentally damaged by their dad, but feel very lucky that I got out of it ( some people don't unfortunately). He isn't allowed near my house, but I know that wouldn't stop him coming here and I am still terrified of him, not because he's a big strong guy, but because I am really the only 1 who has seen just how much of a pyscho he is and seeing is believing. This man drives his car with a samurai sword in the boot and I have recurrent nightmares about that and what he may do, because I know he is capable of anything as he doesn't care about the consequences. He beat me when I was pregnant and when I was holding our baby. So as you may understand, everything is not black and white and you have to look at the bigger picture. I hope to god you or any other man/woman are never in this predicament. It's far too easy for people looking in to say walk away. It's a million times harder to do it, mostly out of fear. Don't mean to sound like I'm having a go at you, but life is just not that simple. I have left and he might still kill me and my kids at any time while he still breathes. A woman who stays in that situation, "HAS" got a backbone. Think about that and never try to make someone in an abusuve relationship feel it's their own fault. You also have to look at some of the women who end up in these relationships, some may already come from abusive pasts and it is a way of life for them, i.e. it's the norm or so they believe. have a heart girl and some compassion.

Re: Domestic Violence (Case 1)

My dad had a business card on the corner of his desk as long I can remember... It said...
Wrong me once, shame on you.
Wrong me twice, shame on me.

There are a lot of cars (where I live) with this bumper sticker on them that says..
REAL men don't hit women (they are from the rape and domestic crisis center)... I have a retort to that particular statement...
No, REAL men do not hit women.... But REAL women do not allow themselves to be hit either.

We, are ALL responsible for how we allow others to treat us. Good or bad. If you ACCEPT it? Then it becomes acceptable behavior.
Btw it's not something that you just accept, it's something that is beyond your control. Do you think abused women say to their men, " go on hit me, if it makes you feel better"? you silly niave little girl. Screw your daft philosophies and take off the rose tinted spectacles, please, before some man makes a punchbag out of you.

Re: Domestic Violence (Case 1)

You are totally correct elizajane - these situations cannot be judged in a vacuum, and in addition, many women 'get out', and then everyone finds out that they were right to fear leaving when the psycho shows up and kills them - that happened in my area just two weeks ago...orders of protection really don't mean anything in these situations, and the laws (and often law enforcement officers) don't treat domestic violence seriously, so often the only way for a woman to safely escape is to have a way to totally disappear - not an easy feat when the man is usually in control of all of the money and stops the woman from having any real social contacts to get help from...until you've talked to these women and understand the traps they end up in, you will never understand...

Re: Domestic Violence (Case 1)

i think the people who say that she should go to the police need t think a little of the situations that some people find themselves in. until uv walked in their shoes u cannot possibly understand.

Re: Domestic Violence (Case 1)

Brainplague friend ... photos of the girl never complained to her husband by beating ... is a fool, it's not wanted arrested him.
pardon? if i understand you correctly, this is also the reason for your in the OP and you are basically saying because she didn't complain she is a fool and she refused to have him arrested.

you don't know the signs of fear, then or are you saying she liked it?

abused women don't always tell or have their partner arrested because they get out and they come back.
