To my understanding the quarries were a few miles away by way of the Nile River. As it happens the desert people of ancient Egypt were EXPERT boat builders and transported the massive cut stones from the quarry to the build site via their sturdy and beautiful boats. Pic 1 is such a boat in artist representation, although not a stone moving boat. Pic 2 and 3 is the famous 'Khufu Ship.' It was built for and commissioned by Pharaoh Khufu (Also known as King Cheops, pronounced 'KEY-ops) and was found buried at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Giza.
