Re: Death Pictures From Mount Everest
I saw a docu about medics climbing Everest to study and experience the effects of O2 lack on body and mind. To find ways how to better help ppl with minimal O2 absorption capacity due to age, lung diseases... They found +- 10 % of the population have genes to coop with O2 lack. It explains why ppl rescued from +8000 meters and brought to lower alts will die eventually after a few hours or even days. their organs are dying due to O2 lack. Above 7000 mts the mind starts judging wrongly and the longer you stay there the worser it gets. the advise is returning below 7000 withing 48 hours. above 8000 is the dead zone where every climbers knows and experiences that he is on his own and cannot expect to get help from others. Everest is the highest, but not the most demanding in terms of lives and technical skills. Everest's neighbor K2 is the real challenge. |
