To the person saying rape happened in the first case.
Why?
Could have happened in the dead of night. Meaning they were all comfy in their beds, in their choice of bed clothing. Dad hears something, wakes up and gets bludgeoned. The 2 women come out of their rooms, only to be attacked by the assailant.

Just watched a new episode of Snapped. The daughter wanted her mom dead, her bf and his friend went ahead to do kill her.
They tore off her clothing, the dead mom, to make it look like she was raped.
