That doesn't actually always work. Even if you have as much as a couple hundred mL of urine in your bladder, you will still generally be comfortable and not feel an urge to go. It is sometimes very difficult for humans to force themselves to evacuate if they 'aren't full enough.' Often becomes a problem for things like doctors' exams, drug tests, etc.

But that doesn't mean that there isn't urine in the bladder. And when the sphincters involuntarily relax during the hanging, it is very likely to come out regardless, usually leaving only a few scant mL left in the bladder, or draining it completely.

I actually researched this after my first few years of finding these photos because I wondered why almost none of them seemed to take a leak BEFORE hanging. Discovered that, whether or not they did, it rarely makes a big difference unless their bladder is so full that they feel a normal urge to go.

Now, in fairness, the decedent in this thread clearly had a very very full bladder given how stained her trousers are. So it likely doesn't apply to her. She probably simply had no idea about the issue when she chose to hang herself or, as I suspect is often the case, was so wrapped up in the drama in her own head that it simply never even occurred to her to visit the bathroom first.

No idea how they do it in Cambodia. I know a Thai friend once told me that in Thailand they often just bury them in the same clothes they die in, usually on the same day. They can't afford corpse storage or preservation or refrigeration or whatever. And they sure as hell don't want to waste clothes. So they light some candles, say a few prayers, and then chuck them in, 'pissy britches' and all.
