Mortality rate of monkeypox is 0.04% to 1%. Limited healthcare like in some African regions it can get up to 10%. Mostly infants and kids. However factors like immunosuppression like HIV will increase the death risk so i guess he already has aids. Monkeypox has milder symptoms as chickenpox and after two weeks healthy people should be fine. Tecovirimat (TPOXX), approved to treat smallpox, can be used for people who are at high risk for severe illness or have severe symptoms from monkeypox.

The monkeypox virus is a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus in the Poxviridae family, which also includes smallpox and cowpox. Chickenpox is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, a member of the Herpesviridae family.

Despite some similar symptoms, like skin rashes, their genetic makeup, transmission, and disease progression differ significantly.

Monkeypox spreads primarily through close contact, including skin-to-skin or respiratory droplets, and has a broader range of symptoms, including fever and lymphadenopathy.

Chickenpox is highly contagious, mainly via airborne droplets, and typically causes an itchy rash. The two viruses belong to entirely different viral families and are not evolutionarily related.
