Re: Brazil - Teenager Shot by Older Ex-boyfriend Who then Hanged Himself
You missed my point. I don't expect you to know every post on this website, but I've posted about the seriousness of domestic violence and how difficult it is to break free from the cycle and what can happen if you cant leave on this site many times before. Maybe in this post I could been more clear as to why I said it's no joke, but like I said, Ive already done that. One of the more recent postings was in the Ronnie Mcnutt shotgun suicide thread, where I said that situation could've easily turned into what we've seen in this thread, and that she was courageous enough to walk away from the relationship when he was so clearly manipulative and emotionally immature, and most importantly, violent. |

Re: Brazil - Teenager Shot by Older Ex-boyfriend Who then Hanged Himself
maybe i did miss your point, maybe i didn't my post wasn't supposed to belittle yours, nor was replying to your actual post supposed to be a direct reply to you, as opposed to a generic reply to the many similar replies both here and otherwise - although i fully accept that it might have come across that way so many people seem to think that avoiding and then escaping domestic violence is easy. both are so far from the truth. the abuse is non existent at the start, and suddenly creeps up to unbearable levels. once it has started, there is almost no way to escape it without risk to life it is so easy for an arsehole to manipulate others. as bodhi from point break said - "it's basic dog psychology, if you scare them and get them peeing down their leg, they submit". and once they have metaphorically peed down their leg, they are putty in the abusers hands |
