If she were alive at the time of eating, she'd be SCREAMING her head off and people would have heard her. Highly unlikely she was alive at the time of consumption.

Talk about pack mentality; theres no known defence against an attack by these fish; check out the jaws, the Indians use them as scissors.

The cause of death in this case was from drowning. Believe it or not, pirrhanas don't actually attack live humans. Seen plenty of documentaries where kids are swimming in pirrhanna infested amazonian waters. An unfortunate loss none the less. |

Not to dispute the "plenty of documentaries" you watch, but I saw a documentary where cattle farmers, needing to herd their cattle across piranha infested rivers, would sacrafice one live cow-[draw piranha to it for a feeding frenzy]-while the hundreds of other cattle crossed safely & unharmed. Those piranha ate the sacraficial cow ALIVE!!

^^ Also, I have seen videos of small baby birds, too young to fly-[herrons, gulls etc.] nesting in tree branches overhanging piranha infested waters, fall into the water and get eaten alive. I'm sure that you can youtube search that one.
