I have read the record of sentences pronounced by old English judges from the era of religious and dynastic wars. He is to be "hung, drawn, and quartered." If facing such a sentence I would very much hope that the order of events corresponded exactly to the order in which they were pronounced, and that they did a very thorough job of the hanging.
