This investigation is an easy one. After so much hello kitty bullshit they finally just lost it on her.

OMG Your introduction to Hello Kitty was a FUNERAL!
Now every time you see Hello Kitty you're gonna think of this! LOL

I'm not a fan but it is everywhere. They even sell sushi at my grocery store in a Hello Kitty bento box...

"Don't forget the extra socks!"

I understand people do weird shit when shocked or grieving. If she were at the funeral home or had been remanded to their custody to prepare for burial or whatever, I might buy it. But she's clearly lying right there on the steel morgue tray, soon to be autopsied.

I'm not saying it definitively isn't her and I do see the vague indentation you referenced, but I am still saying that those fucking socks make zero sense.
I'm pretty sure that they were preparing her for the funeral, otherwise, like you said, it doesn't make sense. The bodies stay on a stainless steel table until they are dressed and ready to go in to the casket.
Just because she's on the steel table does not mean she hasn't been autopsied yet. It's just much easier to dress them on a table rather than in a box.
Honestly, that also could have been the tray table that slides into the cooler where the bodies are stored, it's difficult to say which table it is.

She decided to put em on...

I won't doubt you. I suppose my ignorance of such things comes from spending most of my spare time on relativity theory and its metaphysical/atheological implications. One tends to lose contact with the ordinary world.

Maybe if you had more experience of culture other that your own you might understand.

When my wife's mother died, in the Philippines, in our house, first thing she did was wash her from top to bottom, then dress her in nice clothes. Then she called the burial home and the city hall to report it and arrange a death certificate. The body was taken straight to the crematorium and she was up in smoke within 8 hours of dying.

They do things differently over there. Putting socks on to keep the feet warm is probably just another of the oddball shit they do.

Sentimental touch from her fam?

She probably would've greatly appreciated some kitty snap filters on her death pics too... Perhaps somebody can do the honors?
