Woman Stabbed in Recife: Luis Felipe Souza de Oliveira Arrested, July 11, 2025
A 25-year-old woman was repeatedly stabbed inside a motel room on Rua Imperial in the São José neighborhood of Recife, Brazil, on July 11, 2025. An Army sergeant who was at the motel restrained the suspected attacker, Luis Felipe Souza de Oliveira, 28, who was arrested at the scene. The woman suffered wounds to her neck, back, abdomen and leg, along with defensive wounds to her hands and wrists. Emergency responders took her to Hospital da Restauração, where she underwent surgery. Her condition had not been released as of July 14, 2025. Police were investigating the attack as attempted femicide. Oliveira's preventive detention was reportedly ordered at a subsequent custody hearing in Pernambuco state court. Phone footage shows the woman conscious and heavily bloodied in a reception area, a man being held face-down in the courtyard by an armed man, and a blood-soaked bed inside the room. |

Re: Woman Stabbed in Recife: Luis Felipe Souza de Oliveira Arrested, July 11, 2025
Femicide is a fairly new offense class in some south american countries, and taken REAL seriously. A friend of mine's brother is in prison in Colombia for cutting a woman's neck just a tiny bit during a rage/lapse-of-reason (she didn't even have to go to the hospital), and it counted under that law. As it should.
