A Rutland jury acquitted Jennifer Berube, 40, of an attempted murder charge Friday. The charge came from an incident where Berube held a knife to the throat of a city police officer in December 2012.

Notice how the officer seemed to have difficulty subduing the woman who was smaller? There was a time, not long ago, where basic boxing/Jujitsu skills were taught in the academy. Due to the inability of a large majority of smaller female recruits to master the techniques, most agencies have removed boxing/Jujitsu from the academy curriculum. The blackjack and sap were also axed because they need boxing techniques to work effectively. From experience the sap was one of the best (if not the best) close quarter impact weapons ever invented. Between political correctness and law suits boxing and the blackjack/sap are gone forever.

If that cop hadn't been so concerned about getting trouble, he could have hit her with closed fists several times about the head and face and stopped her right there. Instead he tried to pull control holds on her and just succeeded in dancing with her and risking serious injury to himself and her. Times are not changing for the better.
