UPPER DARBY — Police are looking for the four teenage boys who recorded their unprovoked attack on a 58-year old man and posted the video on Facebook.

The brutal incident took place at the Aronimink Trolley Stop at Burmont Road and Morgan Avenue June 11.

The victim, who is homeless, was sitting at the stop minding his own business when one of four teenage boys walked up and one punched him in the face.

“These are cowardly punks. There was no reason for them to do this other than pure evil,” police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said. “For no reason, they hit this guy. They could have killed him.”

A surveillance camera across the street from the trolley stop caught the four teens appearing to plan the attack.

It shows one of the four walking up to the victim as the others watched. One of the teens is seen holding up a phone camera and recording the attack.

“When you look at the video, you can see that this was planned, you can see them conspiring,” Chitwood said. “Poor guy is homeless.

The bum comes up and cold-cocked him as hard as he could and knocked him to the floor and causes a significant injury to his eye.”

The cellphone video the suspects posted on Facebook shows what some call the knockout game, in which someone walks up to an unsuspecting person and punches them in the face so hard it knocks them out.

Chitwood said the suspects planned, carried out and recorded the attack, then ran away laughing.

“A bunch of cowards,” he said. “Personally, I want to lock up all four of them. They’re videotaping the whole thing; they thought it was a joke.”

Police learned of the attack on Thursday. The victim, who refused medical treatment, did not want his name disclosed.
