October 9, 2008 -- LAUDERDALE LAKES - A would-be ice cream store customer asked for more than a straw to go with his milkshake - he demanded cash at gunpoint.
The Broward Sheriff's Office released surveillance video of the heist on Thursday, three weeks after the man robbed the Carvel ice cream shop at 3600 W. Commercial Boulevard.
Authorities say the man is around 6 feet tall, weighs around 170 pounds and is in his early 20s. He wore a white T-shirt with the words "Get Bread" on the front and the Wonder Bread logo on the back.
The robber was last seen heading east on Commercial Boulevard in a dark, newer model car, possibly a Nissan Altima, the Sheriff's Office said.
The robbery happened on Sept. 22 around 9:40 p.m. The video shows the man pointing a gun at the store employee just as she serves him his frozen treat.
He then tosses a black backpack on the counter and flees after the employee fills it up with cash from the register.
He didn't take the milkshake.
