Undercover Cop Fatally Shoots Guy Brandishing Fake Gun at Food Mart
On January 10, 2026, outside Jakob's Food Mart in Gastonia, North Carolina, 43-year-old Derrick Manigault argued with another man, threatened him and brandished a realistic replica handgun during an undercover police check on alcohol sales. An officer inside and later outside the store fired multiple rounds, striking him four times as he headed for the door. He eventually died at the scene. Gaston County DA Travis Page ruled the shooting justified on May 8, citing Manigault's threats and the perceived imminent danger to customers and staff, while his wife Rebecca Insley calls it murder and plans civil action. Online views divide sharply, with some praising the quick response and others questioning the force used on a man leaving with a fake gun. |

His wife is a flat-out fucking moron. If she needs to be mad at someone, she can be mad at him for doing something that got himself killed. Any injury someone receives while committing a crime is their own damn fault. That "cop" shooting the man in the back needs to be addressed, though. |
