Three armed and masked men robbed an armored truck Wednesday afternoon in Greenwood Village startling a guard, ordering the victim to the ground with a weapon to her head as the truck was ransacked. The three robbers quickly fled in an SUV.
The frightening, lightning-quick robbery happened at about 2:30 p.m. in a parking lot at the Bank of Colorado, 5201 S. Yosemite St., according to the FBI.

The robbers wore black or blue hoodies, masks and sunglasses. Two were armed with semi-automatic handguns, and one brandished an AK-47 variant, the FBI said.

The robbers fled in a 2013 to 2016 gray Nissan Pathfinder, which had a stolen Colorado license plate CVD-251. Surveillance footage of the crime shows a robber appearing to strip a gun from the guard before taking off.

Conviction of armored vehicle robbery carries up to a 20-year prison sentence, which increases if a weapon is used, the FBI said.

Armored truck driver robbed at gunpoint says she was fired shortly after incident

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. -- The armored vehicle driver who was robbed at gunpoint late last month says she was fired shortly after the incident.
Video appears to show three males approaching Sabrina Gimeno and a Brinks armored vehicle outside a Bank of Colorado in the Denver Tech Center area of Greenwood Village.

The FBI Denver field office said the incident occurred about 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 30.
The robbers were wearing black or blue hoodies, masks and sunglasses. The FBI says the were armed with two semi-automatic handguns and one "AK-47 variant."

On Thursday, Gimeno spoke exclusively with FOX31 about the robbery.

"I was on my knees. I thought they were going to execute me. All I thought about was my kids, my family and not coming home," she said.

Gimeno says she was fired Monday due to a technicality.

"I didn’t think my job would do this to me. I feel betrayed," she said.

Gimeno says she is now seeing a counselor and has been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder.

"If I didn’t do what I did -- just put my hands up right away -- I wouldn’t be here," she said.

Authorities did not say how much money was stolen.

Gimeno says she hopes the suspects are caught soon.

"This isn't some cheesy movie. This is real life. I'm a mother. I'm someone's daughter. I'm someone's girlfriend," she said.

An SUV possibly connected to an armed robbery in Greenwood Village earlier this week has been impounded, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said Friday.

Pictures show a gray Nissan Pathfinder being towed from a street in the Denver Tech Center area of Greenwood Village, not far from where the robbery occurred.

A witness to the SUV being towed reports police knocked on doors in the area to ask people for any surveillance footage they may have.

The SUV matches the description of a getaway car from the robbery, which happened about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bank of Colorado at 5201 S. Yosemite St.

It is unknown whether the impounded SUV has the same license plates as the one involved in the robbery.


Don't know why that truck was parked all the way in the parking lot when they were loading money from that bank ( by one person). There should be a seperate entrance where they can back up the truck almost inches from the entrance.
Also that boss is a pos for firing her unless they acted against some safety policy.

You’re absolutely right that there should be either a more private loading area or at least a more secure one, NOT the friggin front door. And what I gathered from the stories I read, it sounds as if the Brinks employee that surrendered was the only guard for the truck. All armored car services I’ve ever been aware of usually have 3, or the very least 2 armed guards in the truck - one of which is usually locked in the back with the money at all times. If she was the only guard for that truck, and the guard that goes inside for the pick up, that was just a robbery waiting to happen.

You may be right. And if the guard was the only one on the truck and knew the general amount she picks up there a day, she might have gotten enough out of the job to afford to quit work for a while. But being that the FBI are involved, they are probably watching her accounts and movements very closely. I doubt she’d be able to get away with anything.

I just want to know why she was alone...and a female of all things, alone. I mean, even if it was an armed dude alone, that's one thing, but who made the stupid ass decision for her to be doing secure runs alone and she weighs maybe 140lbs at best. She could have been overpowered at any stop during the day.
