Thieves Stealing Air Conditioning Units from a Tulsa County Library

TULSA, OK -- Two men stole something from all of us last month. They took off with two air conditioning units from a Tulsa County library, something our tax dollars paid for.

The crooks had no idea the Suburban Acres Library on North Garrison had surveillance cameras and the whole crime was caught on tape.

Police gave Kellyhound that tape in hopes someone will know who these men are and turn them in before they strike again.

The surveillance video shows the men walk up with bolt cutters and begin working on the lock, sometime between 6 p.m. on September 11th and the next morning.

Once they're inside, they carry the first air conditioning unit and load it into their red, Chevy pickup. The librarian who comes to work the next morning, can't figure out why the system isn't cooling.

"She calls the service department, comes out, discovers the cooling units are missing," said Officer Leland Ashley with the Tulsa Police Department.

They are captured on tape again, loading the second unit into their truck. Police are delighted with the quality of the surveillance video, because they believe it could lead to an ID.

"One guy arrives, thinking ahead there may be surveillance and has a hoodie pulled over his face, but the other guy doesn't.

We're hoping you can recognize him or even the hoodie the other individual is wearing," said Officer Ashley.

Detectives are quite confident this isn't the first burglary for these two and it won't be the last unless they're arrested.
