TEXAS: 5 Officers Shoot Armed Robber

What do you do when you've just robbed a liquor store at gunpoint and find yourself surrounded by 20 cops with guns drawn???... in Texas, you try to outrun 'em.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, (March 11, 2024) — Five officers from three different law enforcement agencies were placed on administrative duty Monday night after fatally shooting a man fleeing after he had robbed a liquor store at gunpoint, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said.

The shooting happened just after 8 p.m. Monday near the Shoppes at Oak North North strip mall in Oak Ridge North, a small Montgomery County city about 30 miles north of downtown Houston.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office identified the man, who was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital, as Houston resident Roosevelt Overton Jr., 44.

Finner was joined by members of the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Oak Ridge North Police Department and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office during a Monday night news conference about the shooting.

The agencies were tracking Overton, who was a suspect in multiple armed robberies in Harris, Fort Bend and Montgomery counties, Finner said.

Overton was seen looking into businesses before entering the liquor store and robbing it, Finner said. The officers attempted to stop him after he left the store, but he ran, leading the officers into a nearby bayou, Finner said.

Overton was carrying a gun while he ran and didn’t listen to the officers’ commands to drop the weapons, Finner said. The officers opened fire because they feared for their own lives, Finner said.

The officers who fired their weapons included a Houston Police Department sergeant and two officers, a Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy and a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper. None of the officers were wounded.

STOP MOTHER FUCKER!! Simply yelling STOP on its own didn't seem to be sufficient enough for that cop. He never did aim the weapon in their direction, 3 cops just mag dump on him.

Would you be waiting for someone aiming a visible gun, not listening to commands and who doesn't want to go to jail for robbery towards you?
I wouldn't take the risk.

Re: TEXAS: 5 Officers Shoot Armed Robber

I notched several videos lately where once one cop fires, they all have to fire, and keep on firing. It's like when someone coughs in class or during a quiet recital, they all to cough. But it is pretty spectacular to hear that hail of bullets , knowing that a bad guy is going down... down down down, to the Hot Place with the guy with the horns and the tail and the picthfork

It's called Contagious shooting. Kind of a Pavlovian phenomenon that they think stems from the conditioned training used on pistol ranges.
