i only add that you DO NOT have to exhaust available avenues of escape under stand-your-ground laws. it does not apply to just being in your home (basically just an extension of castle doctrine) any time you feel your life is in imminent danger (and all that other stuff that justifies lethal force) you do not have to flee or look to escape. you are justified in standing your ground and use said force

Just to add to this, you do not necessarily have to exhaust all forms of escape even in jurisdictions that don't have stand your own ground statutes. Every jurisdiction is different, and not only that a lot would depend on whether a jury trial is involved, only a judge, and how well a criminal defense lawyer is able to paint a picture that the shooter was justified in doing what he did.
