Security Guard Killed During Robbery James Castrillón Gómez, a 65-year-old security guard, was murdered while trying to prevent a robbery at a restaurant in the La Pradera neighborhood, located in Dosquebradas (Risaralda) on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. According to reports from local authorities, three armed individuals entered the establishment with the intention of committing the theft. |

When the woman saw the robber with the gun coming towards her she nonchalantly placed her phone in her pocket and remained calm. Seemed like this wasn't her first rodeo.

Everyone is in mourning and some remember their last conversation with James Castrillón: “He had told us that it was his wife's birthday this week,” recalled a merchant. La Pradera is the most important commercial sector in Dosquebradas, but the murder of the community watchman has residents sad and worried about insecurity. The elderly man, who for about 30 years had been the caretaker and guardian of the area, died while trying to prevent a robbery inside a restaurant. A criminal entered an establishment to steal a gold chain and ended up shooting James in the middle of a struggle. Nayibe Figueroa, a spokeswoman for La Pradera merchants, described Castrillón as “a very noble and respectful person” who had always been a benchmark for security in the sector.  · |
