Karl Nesswas told he will serve a minimum sentence of 40 years while Qhuaram Awan will spend a minimum of 20 years inside, Newcastle Crown Court heard today.
The pair were arrested in Rothbury in July last year after helping Moat evade police during the week long manhunt.
Commenting on the sentence Detective Superintendent Jim Napier said: “We welcome these sentences which reflect the severity of the crimes Karl Ness and Qhuram Awan were involved in.
“Both men now have a long time in which to reflect on their cowardly actions which left one man dead, two people seriously injured and countless others traumatised.
“Throughout that week last July both men had numerous opportunities to stop these unfolding events and prevent people being killed and injured.
However neither took any responsibility for their actions.
Damn, what did these guys do again? I know some guy got killed but
They aided and abetted a guy who went crazy and killed people. They knew was he was doing because they were his friends, got him weapons and such and helped him kill a policeman and stuff.
