Randall Allen was shot and wounded by Louisville Metro Police Officer Brandon Brinkley outside a Walmart in Fairdale, Kentucky, on August 28, 2024, after a Kentucky State Police pursuit ended in a crash at Outer Loop and New Cut Road.

Allen, a passenger in the pursued vehicle, fled into the Walmart and later came back outside and entered a woman's car in the pharmacy drive-thru. Brinkley ordered him out and fired several rounds through the windshield. The woman was not hurt, and Allen suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. Police said a real handgun and a replica were recovered. The driver, Jeremy Bozarth, was arrested at the crash on charges including reckless driving, criminal mischief and driving with a suspended license.

At a preliminary hearing on September 20, 2024, a judge found probable cause on eight counts against Allen, including first-degree robbery, unlawful imprisonment, wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. A grand jury indicted him in October 2024 on robbery, resisting arrest, fleeing, wanton endangerment and handgun charges. The Louisville police chief later recommended full exoneration for Brinkley in the shooting, and the Louisville Office of Inspector General concurred in September 2025.

That's what sucks about being a cop. They have to make those difficult split-second decisions. On one hand, yea, he could've killed an innocent. On the other hand, the guy could've turned this into a hostage situation resulting in dead kids (if there were any). Desperate people do crazy shit.

Randall Allen, a 37-year-old man involved in a police shooting at a Walmart in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 28, 2024, has been charged with multiple felonies following the incident.

Randall Allen was a passenger in a vehicle pursued by Kentucky State Police (KSP) on Interstate 265. The chase ended in a crash at the intersection of Outer Loop and New Cut Road near a Walmart in Fairdale, Louisville.

The driver, Jeremy Bozarth, was arrested at the scene, but Allen, armed with a pistol and allegedly in possession of methamphetamine, fled into the Walmart.

He then attempted to carjack a woman in the pharmacy drive-thru, leading to Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) Officer Brandon Brinkley shooting him multiple times through the vehicle’s windshield.

The woman in the vehicle was unharmed, and Allen sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Both a real handgun and a replica weapon were recovered at the scene.

Allen faces a range of charges, including first-degree robbery, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Allen was released from the hospital and booked into Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on September 4, 2024. His initial bond was set at $100,000 but was reduced to $50,000 on September 5, 2024, with the condition of house arrest if he posts bond.

On October 27, 2024, Allen was indicted by a grand jury and pleaded not guilty to all charges during his arraignment. He remains in jail on a $50,000 cash bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for a later date.

He has more than a dozen prior arrests for charges including jumping bail, wanton endangerment, and drug-related offenses. One of the charges he faces in the current case is possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, indicating a prior felony conviction.
