A man suspected of stealing a truck with meat was shot and arrested 3 days ago in Greater São Paulo.

According to police, the criminal ended up being shot after abandoning the vehicle during a chase at km 21 of the Castello Branco Highway, in Barueri. He was transported to the General Hospital of Osasco. The hostage driver and helper were released.

Another car would have escorted the stolen truck. There would be more criminals inside. That car, however, was no longer found. They did not participate in the shooting.

"At around 6:30 am, our civil guards were in the vehicle when they received information from a stolen refrigerated truck. They spotted the vehicle and started to accompany it, until the assailant abandoned the vehicle and fired and there was a retaliation," police said.

The truck and the meat were recovered and taken to the Barueri police station, where the case will be registered and investigated by the Civil Police. After that, the vehicle and cargo will be returned to the owners of the meat company.

Until the publication of this report, driver and employee had not yet given testimony to tell how the theft was.

The criminal was admitted to the Osasco hospital with an escort by the GCM of Itapevi. As of 8:40 am, his identity and state of health had not yet been released.

According to subcomandante Cássio, the weapon he used in the theft and kidnapping, a 380 pistol, was seized.
