Police Shooting USA

Appears to be recent. I don't think this video has been posted on here. I do not have the back story on this shooting incident unfortunately. Perhaps some of our American DR members can look into it, and find out whether this man survived or died.

The perp shouldn't have tried to grab the gun. Good thing the cops were black or those poor business owners would lose their livelihood.

Re: Police Shooting USA

You're right, this didn't get a lot of news coverage. Why would the media feature this story? How does this compare, in your opinion, to the systematic discrimination we do see in the news?

A. This was last year
B. Suspect had a gun
C. Suspect pointed that gun at the CHEST of the officer
D. Suspect yelled "I have a gun, 'expletive' die!"
E. Office shot after B,C, & D
F. Suspect is still alive

Bronx police officers shot an armed suspect Sunday night in a dramatic confrontation captured on bystanders’ mobile phone video, and by the cops’ body cameras.

The wounded suspect was reported in stable condition late Sunday after surgery. He was shot twice at close range, the bystanders' video shows.

Police said the suspect was armed with a loaded .9 mm semi-automatic pistol.

Around 7 p.m., officers from the 44th Precinct approached the man — believed to be in his 50s — at W. 166th St. and Summit Ave. in Highbridge. The suspect had just broken the right rear window of a BMW parked on Summit Ave., said police.

The man stated he had locked his keys in the car and was trying to get inside, said witness Patrice Turner, 29.

Police said the suspect produced keys for another car. “The officers began to put the individual under arrest. A struggle ensued,” said NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan.

Mercedes Escoto, who took video of the incident, said the man was resisting arrest before cops wrestled him to the ground.

Her video — shared with the Daily News — shows two uniformed officers struggling with the man while he repeatedly tells cops, “I know my rights! I know my rights!”

“It’s my vehicle, it’s my vehicle,” the man said, as one of the officers punched him twice while he was lying on the ground on his side.

During the struggle, the man ended up on his back as both officers tried to wrangle him into handcuffs.

Both officers’ bodycams were operating, said Monahan. “From the camera, you can hear the suspect say, ‘I have a gun, expletive die,'” Monahan said.

Escoto’s video shows one of the officers reaching for his handgun and shooting the suspect twice.

After he was shot, the man was put in handcuffs while a frantic officer screamed at him, “F--k bro. What’s wrong with you, man?”

Police took this weapon from a man wounded by officers in the Bronx on Sunday evening.*(DCPI/NYPD)

Monahan said that the officer fired when the suspect aimed his gun at his chest.

The cops’ videos give a better view of the danger faced by the officers, Monahan said.

"If you’re not standing there, you don’t see the suspect is armed with a gun, a 9 mm,” said Monahan. “He says quite clearly on the tape, ‘I have a gun, die.’”

Re: Police Shooting USA

Ronnie Cole, 58, was seriously injured when he was shot in the chest and hip after he was wrestled to the ground by NYPD officers, July last year.

the officers were patrolling the neighborhood as part of an effort to reduce the number of shootings in the area when they allegedly saw Cole breaking the back window of a BMW.

They tried to arrest him, but Cole insisted the car was his.

But NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan said the keys Cole had were not for the white BMW and that the car's right, rear window had been broken.

A struggle ensued when the officers tried to arrest Cole.

The officers were wearing body cameras, but in the struggle the cameras shifted so police could only hear to what happened.

"I have a gun," Cole can be heard saying on body camera video, according to Monahan. "Die."

One of the officers said he felt a gun pressed to his chest.

The officer shot twice, hitting Cole in the torso and hip.

"I thought he was going to shoot me," the officer can be heard saying to other cops on body camera video, according to Monahan.

The victim, who police say was armed with a semiautomatic 9mm gun, was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in serious condition. He was still in surgery several hours after the shooting.

The two police officers involved were also treated for ringing to the ears.

"This incident, once again, demonstrated the dangers of police work and how quickly incidents can escalate," Monahan said.

Cole was just released from prison in April after serving nearly 30 years for several violent crimes, including armed robbery.

your comment makes no sense and I worry that you have fallen victim to the media propaganda and brainwashing. wake up.

there is rioting in the streets right now because an incident occurred where a black man who was resisting arrest died while being detained by a white cop. I can almost guarantee you only heard about that because the races of the people involved. had there been no white cop involved, like the case in this thread, cities in the USA would not be on fire right now.

my comment had nothing to do with trump. get your head out of your ass.
