Re: Police Car Rammed in Ireland

A garda who was in a patrol car rammed by joyriders has revealed how "daunting" the incident was but said: "I'm alive, that's the main thing."

The female cop and her colleague have been assessed by medics and are now off duty due to their injuries. The pair responded to stolen two cars being driven recklessly in Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot in Dublin on Monday evening.

Their patrol car was rammed twice by one of the joyriders as a mob cheered them on. In a statement issued through the Garda Representative Association, one of the two Gardai said: "I'm alive, that's the main thing. It was so daunting to see a mob baying for our car to be rammed."

"In the aftermath of this appalling incident, both Gardaí told the GRA that they were still trying to process the traumatic events." It's understood that Ballyfermot Garda Station has been closed for the detention of prisoners since March 2020.

Gardai say it is under strength on the frontline in the area and morale is low. In the past two and half years, there has been 15 resignations from the Ballyfermot District.

The major probe is continuing to identify those involved in the incident but cops believe it was done in "revenge" for a recent operation tackling anti-social behaviour in the area which saw seven brought before the courts.

Some were rearrested for breaching bail conditions earlier this week. Minister Eamon Ryan told the Dail earlier that there is increased patrolling by the Regional Support Units and Armed Support Units in the area.

just roll down windows and start shooting them in the face.

Re: Police Car Rammed in Ireland

Do not know why the cops are not shooting. In Arizona, that constitutes "assault with a deadly weapon" and usually results in bullets through the windshield without any hesitation. On the first impact, the cops doors would have opened, followed by a shower of shots through the windshield of the criminal's car. But I guess it's different in the land of the boghoppers.

Things work a little differently over here in the uk regarding the gun laws alot of people wishes it was like the US but alot of people dont because we've seen how trigger happy the cops can be once they have that power to open fire
