On August 9, 2026, police responded to a shoplifting call at Walmart involving a man who had refused to cooperate with security. An officer asked for his identifying information and told him to stay while officers investigated.

After being told he was detained and could not leave, the man tried to leave on a bike. Officers took him to the ground. He denied trying to flee, saying the bike had moved on its own. Officers restrained and handcuffed him.

The man complained of leg pain, later reported chest pain and repeatedly asked for an ambulance. Officers helped him up and moved him to a patrol car, eventually getting him seated inside. An ambulance was called to check him.

He was charged with retail theft and resisting arrest.
