Officers Shoot Man Who Points BB Gun at Them
Los Angeles police officers shot Jamil Basheer on Alsace Avenue on March 10, 2026, after he ran toward them pointing what was later identified as a BB gun. Officers responded around 6:50 a.m. after a caller reported Basheer pulled a gun when asked to turn down his music. Basheer produced a handgun during contact at his residence. Officers retreated to the street and ordered him to surrender. He ran toward them holding the gun and a knife, prompting officers to shoot. Basheer was struck once, dropped both weapons and ran inside. He later surrendered and was hospitalized in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the jaw. He had not been booked because he required treatment. Officers recovered a Glock 19-style BB gun and a six-inch folding knife. No officers or other community members were injured.

How stupid can you get!?! You’ve got an army of LAPD outside your home with weapons drawn and you come outside holding a pistol. |
