The LAPD claimed that the suspect who shot himself was "simultaneously struck by a police bullet in the spine, killing him".

BULLSHIT. The cops just wanted a small victory in what amounted to the Department getting it's ass handed back in a pretty, armor-piercing package.

If only these guys weren't on drugs, they might have actually done some good and killed a few cops.

And the dirty little secret is that audio recordings of police broadcasts demonstrate that the LAPD pursued two other suspects involved in said robbery. But they got away, which is something that the LAPD will not admit to.
