Maryann Christy DUI Arrest, 15-Foot Tree in Grille, Roselle, January 23, 2016

Maryann Christy, 54, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after Roselle police stopped her car with a 15-foot tree lodged in its front grille at about 11 p.m. January 23, 2016.

Police stopped the southbound car on Roselle Road near Irving Park Road. Its airbags had deployed, and Christy failed field sobriety tests. She told officers she had struck the tree in her hometown of Schaumburg but could not remember where. Deputy Police Chief Roman Tarchala estimated that she had continued driving for at least a few miles. Police released dashcam video of the stop on March 7.

Roselle police officers pulled over Maryann Christy at 11:10 p.m. on Jan. 23 after receiving reports of her unusual hood accessory from other horrified drivers.

The 54-year-old woman from the nearby suburb of Schaumburg claimed she'd driven a few miles and "didn't remember where" she'd hit the tree, news reported. The airbags on Christy's 2004 Lincoln were also deployed.
