Surveillance cameras captured the dramatic moments leading up to a shooting Tuesday at a Pompano Beach gas station that left one person hospitalized. Deputies responded to the shooting around 3 p.m. at the Orion gas station in the area of East Atlantic Boulevard and Northeast 1st Avenue, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said. When they arrived the deputies found a man who'd been shot. Paramedics took him to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was unknown. The video appears to show a man walking up to a white Toyota SUV, pulling on the passenger-side door handles and banging on the window. When the door opens, he reaches inside.

The woman in the passenger seat pushes him away, and the encounter quickly turns physical. The video appears to show the man punching the woman as she tries to fend him off. During much of the confrontation, the driver of the SUV appears to stand nearby with his door open as the fight unfolds just feet away. Then, just as quickly as the confrontation began, it appears to end. The man walks into the gas station convenience store, appears to make a purchase and walks back out less than 30 seconds later. But the tension doesn't end there – as the man walks in front of the white Toyota, the video appears to show the driver motion toward him before multiple shots are fired, striking the man.

The driver remained at the scene as deputies investigated, BSO said. Hours after the shooting, a person who appears to be the same one seen in the surveillance video returned to the scene to collect the SUV. He ignored questions from reporters, honked his horn and drove off. Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed yellow crime scene tape closing off the gas station, with multiple deputies and detectives investigating. Officials haven't released the identities of anyone involved or said what may have led to the shooting. It remains unclear whether anyone will face charges in connection with the shooting.
