A knife-wielding homeless man is in custody after allegedly making threatening statements in the lobby of the Maricopa County Jail in Phoenix, Arizona.

County sheriff's officials said that 33-year-old Jesse Bustos Arce is being held in the jail's psychiatric unit.

He was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of disorderly conduct after he allegedly told officers he was attempting 'suicide by cop.'

Sheriff's officials say Arce was visiting the jail and went into the men's bathroom of the Fourth Avenue Jail.

They say he exited the bathroom brandishing two knives and making threatening statements.

When Arce refused orders to drop the weapons, jail officials say a detention officer used a stun gun to subdue him.

Surveillance video of scene shows 7 officers pointing weapons at the man before one of them uses his stun gun to shock Arce in the arm.

Six of the men descend to subdue Arce before lifting him up and checking him for more weapons.

He is finally led away after officer ensure he's not carrying any more weapons.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Arce claimed to be attempting 'suicide by cop.
