Re: Cop Pushing a Paraplegic Man Out of His Wheelchair into the Street
I totally disagree with this department's internal affairs unit's conclusion and the Chief of Police's punishment. This is the result of a chief getting political and community pressure and caving in to it. During my career I investigated thousands of use of force incidents and this is a complete bow to political correctness. The idiot in the wheelchair looked right at the cop and intentionally rolled right over his foot...in case your wondering, that's battery on a peace officer. If the district attorney failed to file charges then that's another politically correct coward that's elected by the community...a God damned lawyer and a politician. That's like being a retard and a child molester. Other than get the guy in the wheelchair off his foot...what is it exactly that the officer did wrong? If this wasn't some handicapped guy in a wheelchair, but a non-handicapped guy intentionally stomping on the officer's foot...how would it look? Nobody would have batted an eye...but because the guy's in a protected class, everyone goes all spastic. Let's look at this from another perspective. All I hear is that handicapped folks just need a chance and maybe a little extra help to be productive and "just like everyone else". Now when the officer treats this guy like the jackass he is and knocks him over...all the politicians and paper pushers shit a cow. That officer should be commended for not seeing that idiot's handicap and treating him just like anyone else that committed battery on a peace officer. What would everyone say if I told you that this guy has a prior criminal history and a history of acting like a dick toward local officers and hiding behind his disability? Would that make you look at this differently? How about if I told you the guy was a registered sex offender and had priors for molesting and annoying children? Would that make a difference? I really don't see the officer using unnecessary or unreasonable force during this encounter. Just because someone's in a wheelchair doesn't mean he isn't or can't be a significant threat to others. |

Re: Cop Pushing a Paraplegic Man Out of His Wheelchair into the Street
The cops being in danger has nothing to do with this use of force incident. The dumbass intentionally ran over the COP's foot and he reacted (just like any other normal person) to get the 400+lbs wheelchair and idiot off his foot. The fact that the dummy fell over with the wheelchair was just a bonus and not necessarily the intended outcome. From what I've been able to find out, the idiot in the wheelchair has been a constant source of problems to the local community for quite some time and hides behind his handicap whenever he gets called on his bad behavior. He has made a hobby out of toying with the local police and has anger issues and problems with authority. He is not mentally diminished nor incapable of using his hands and arms. His comment that he was in possession of a firearm was clearly intended to provoke a response. Apparently he is quite physically capable of using either a handgun or a knife. Of course everyone always reacts emotionally over a guy in a wheelchair getting pushed over by the big bully police officer, but the reality is usually quite different than what the camera captures. From first hand experience, someone in a wheelchair is just as capable of killing as an able bodied person. In fact, sometimes they're more capable because you would assume they're not and officers might not search them as well as they would someone not in a wheelchair. Handicapped folks can be just as deadly and be just as big an asshole as anyone else.

Well, in this particular case, I'd say he was protecting his foot.

Re: Cop Pushing a Paraplegic Man Out of His Wheelchair into the Street
I wholly agree...that damn handicapped asshat should have been run over by the police cruiser after he fell over. If he'd pulled that same shit as a non handicapped individual and stomped the cop's foot and got his ass slammed as a result, no one would have said a thing. If the handicapped want equal rights and to be treated like everyone else...then don't bitch when you are. That cop did that handicapped guy a favor and treated him just like any other jerk that tried to injure him...regardless of his obvious handicap. An asshole is an asshole no matter if it's sitting in a wheelchair or not.
