Indianapolis Police Chase Ends In Arrest
Metro Police say a routine traffic stop turned into a police pursuit. The suspect led police through streets, intersections, parking lots and neighborhoods on the city's east side. It started just after 7:00 a.m. Two metro police officers were doing drug surveillance at a Lawrence apartment complex. The officers saw the suspect's car pull in, but when he saw police he put the car in reverse and quickly sped away. Police tried to pull the car over, but the driver did not stop. After nearly an hour, police tried to spin the driver out, called a PIT (Precision Intervention Technique) manuever, 4 times. Finally, with a shredded tire and one more hit by a police officer's car, the car ended in a field next to a church in Lawrence at 46th St and Post Rd. The chase lasted for 28 minutes and topped speeds of 60 miles per hour. Officers say the suspect had a warrant for criminal trespass. |
