JUNE 2013: Matthew Tvrdon will face sentencing this afternoon for his hit-and-run rampage in Cardiff, last October, after admitting the manslaughter of a mum-of-three and seven counts of attempted murder in a total of 34 charges.

Police have released dramatic CCTV footage of the moment they caught hit-and-run killer Matthew Tvrdon . During the rampage, mum-of-three Karina Menzies tragically lost her life.

The 31-year-old mother's family paid tribute to Karina , and spoke of the "gaping hole" her death has left in their lives. Ms Menzies' sister, Samantha, said:

"The only thing that keeps me going is bringing her girls up.

"I see Karina in every one of them, which is comforting.

"They are doing really well. Naturally they are sad at times, but they live life from day to day which is exactly what children should do.

"They are inspirational children and are an absolute credit to my sister."

Those attending Matthew Tvrdon's trial at Cardiff Crown Court heard how medics discharged Cardiff hit and run killer Matthew Tvrdon from psychiatric services and thought him well enough to stop taking medication, one year before the tragic events of October 19, 2012.

The court then heard how, after Tvrdon's arrest, Tvrdon had met with his line manager just two days before the hit-and-runs after workmates raised concerns. Bosses were contemplating referring him for medical attention.

Tvrdon told police he heard voices "inside and outside his head" on the day of the hit-and-runs.

The court heard how Tvrdon's former girlfriend, Lisa Davies, told police how he had been behaving "odd" in the days before the carnage and when she tried to speak to him he ignored her.

In another tragic twist to the case, Karina Menzies' uncle, Colin Menzies, died at the age of 71, just a day before Matthew Tvrdon was due to be sentenced for his hit-and-run rampage.
