A Florida man has been arrested and charged with child neglect after allegedly towing a car with a 4-year-old girl inside, who then fell out onto the road.

The incident occurred Sunday outside the Bistro Creole restaurant in Sunrise, Florida.

Video footage shows tow truck driver Sergio Suarez, 34, driving away while the girl’s father chases after him, banging on the truck to alert him that his daughter was still inside.

According to police, the father ran into traffic to rescue his daughter after she fell from the moving vehicle, sustaining minor injuries to her arms and calf. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Suarez later returned the vehicle to the restaurant after being contacted by police and was arrested. Court documents reveal he admitted he did not check the vehicle for occupants and continued driving because he “feared the father might become aggressive.”

Police say Suarez’s actions showed “reckless disregard for the safety of a minor” and directly caused the child’s injuries. He faces a third-degree felony charge of child neglect without great bodily harm and was released on $10,000 bond.

While Suarez’s attorney claimed he had checked the vehicle three times, the judge pointed out that video evidence contradicted this statement.

Sergio Suarez was not a repo man. He was a tow truck driver employed by All-Ways Towing, who towed a vehicle illegally parked in a fire lane outside a restaurant in Sunrise, Florida.

This was a standard parking violation tow by a private towing company contracted for the property.

It is against the law to leave your kid unattended in a vehicle
for even one minute.
The tow truck company hangs around waiting for an opportunity of wrongdoing, snags a vehicle and gives the restaurant a kickback.
