This morning in South Ozone Park, Queens, eight NYPD officers were hurled into the air when a gas explosion destroyed a three-family house while they were attempting to enter on a call for a domestic dispute.

The bodycam video captures the precise instant: the officers were at the front door around 2:57 am when a massive detonation threw them against the gate.

Despite minor injuries, they got up immediately and ran into the blazing interior to rescue the residents.

The suspect, 50-year-old Anroop Parasram, ex-partner of a resident, allegedly forced his way into the basement with a knife and accelerant, setting a fire that sparked a five-alarm blaze and collapsed the building.

It's believed Parasram died in the basement. All eleven residents made it out safely.

Officers with the New York City Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call April 30th at a home in the South Ozone Park section of New York City after family members reported an intoxicated man had forced his way into the residence armed with a knife.

According to investigators, the suspect was allegedly involved in an ongoing domestic dispute with his estranged wife and had entered the basement apartment carrying bags believed to contain accelerants or gas containers.

As responding officers arrived, they immediately detected a strong odor of gas coming from inside the home. Family members who escaped the residence met officers outside and provided keys to the basement apartment while warning them the suspect was still inside.

Officers cautiously approached the entrance and began attempting to make entry when a massive explosion suddenly ripped through the house, engulfing the structure in flames and sending officers flying backward from the blast.

Despite being knocked to the ground and injured by debris and the shockwave, several officers rushed back toward the burning structure to help evacuate residents and search for additional victims trapped inside.

Authorities said the explosion collapsed much of the home, damaged neighboring houses, and displaced numerous residents in the area. Multiple officers and firefighters suffered injuries during the incident. Investigators later stated they believe the suspect intentionally ignited the explosion during the domestic dispute.
