On January 3, 2025, Chicago police officers responded to a domestic dispute involving a person with a knife inside a building near 3000 W. 21st Pl.

Officers entered the building and went to the apartment where the altercation was reported. They encountered an individual armed with a knife.

Officers fired their weapons, striking the individual multiple times. The individual was taken to a hospital and later pronounced deceased.

The officers were not injured. A knife was recovered from the scene.
