Chicago police responded on January 3, 2025, to a call of a domestic dispute involving a person with a knife inside a building near 3000 W. 21st Pl.

As officers entered the building and arrived at the apartment where the altercation was reported, they encountered an individual armed with a knife. Officers discharged their weapons, striking the individual multiple times.

The individual was taken to a hospital and was later pronounced deceased. The officers were not injured. A knife was recovered from the scene.
