On May 27, 2024, two Chicago police officers were flagged down near 300 S. Cicero Avenue and saw a male individual with an unknown weapon attacking a victim in the street.

The officers got out of their vehicle and gave commands for the individual to drop the weapon. The individual did not comply.

Both officers fired their guns, striking the individual and the victim. The individual was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. The victim was also taken to a hospital and was listed in critical condition.
