Two police officers were shot in Jujan canton, Guayas province, while they were parked at a gas station.

According to a police report, several individuals who were traveling in a Chevrolet vehicle arrived at the scene and shot the gendarmes with large-caliber weapons.

Those affected, who were identified as Sgt. José Y., E., and Cbo. Lucas O., B., were transferred to the city of Babahoyo, to be treated by the doctors on duty. One of the wounded is in serious condition because he was shot in the head.

Meanwhile his companions carry out a strong operation to find the whereabouts of the assassins.

According to a publication by the National Police, several "specialized units have been deployed in order to find the cause of the incident."

Lying on the road, surrounded by a pool of blood, was a police officer after being shot in the head.

The police officer wounded in the head was in critical condition and is receiving care at the Babahoyo hospital. Meanwhile, his partner managed to respond to the attack, but also received projectile impacts at arm and forearm level.

During the violent act, the perpetrators stole a weapon from one of the uniformed men.

34 bullet remains were collected at the scene of the crime , and the shots also damaged the police vehicle.
