Drunk Toronto Mom with Kid in the Back Stopped by Cops
This impaired driver blew through two stop signs and was driving erratically – with a five-year-old girl in the backseat. You bet we were there to take her off the road. On June 24, 2021, at approximately 6:45 p.m., an officer observed these unsafe driving behaviours. The vehicle was stopped in the area of Clarence Street and Wycliffe Avenue and the officer quickly formed grounds to arrest the driver. Fortunately, the officer stopped the vehicle before anyone was hurt. The driver, a 33-year-old woman from Toronto, was charged with several offences including Impaired Operation, 80 Plus and Driving while Under Suspension. |

Hey... When this kind of thing happens, what do the cops do about the child that's now left in the car? If mom is arrested, what do the cops do? Where and who comes to take care of the child.. and even the car? What are the procedures? |

The police call the closest tow truck. Or the one they prefer. And have it moved to a secure parking lot. There is a tow fee. And the charge you by the day for how many days before you showed up to get it back. As for the children. The police would call child protective services. Cps would show up and take the children, they'd contact family.

Children are taken into state custody and an on-call Child Protective Services Representative is called to the scene or met at the police station to take the child into their care and the car just simply gets impounded. Same goes for animals, Animal Control is dispatched to the scene or met at the police station to get the animal. |

All that five-year-old kid knows is that the police took mommy away. This is how some children begin to hate the police and take that negative view to adolescence and adulthood. Mommy is going to do nothing to stop that notion from festering in that child's brain, either.  |
