I'm just really curious. Let's say that the cops let him run away while the suspect still had the gun on him. Then let's say that he reached a far enough point to get to some cover or obstacle, go behind it, and then pull out his gun. Then the whole narrative of the situation would have drastically changed or escalated. Can you really assume you would know what the guy's intentions were? I think you have to ask yourself several questions. Why was he carrying a concealed gun in the first place? Where was he going with it? Could he have been potentially on his way to use the gun at some other location? Possibly a mass shooting or something similar. The suspect was getting away from the location while carrying a concealed gun. Would you just let him run away knowing that he had the potential to use the gun on others? Sorry, but I would have to side with the police on this one. |

Also, characterizing this as a "murder" also shows your bias towards the police. Would you rather have the guy get away, then shoot someone, and then finally feel justified that he gets his deserved punishment? Is that what it would take to absolve the police of their actions? Wouldn't it have been better to prevent a potential situation than waiting to see what the suspect would have done? As mentioned in an earlier post, the police were cleared of their charges which I think was the right call. |

So.. instead of refuting any of the points I made that the police were justified in this case, you had to resort to name-calling and Canadian flag-waving about how superior your country is compared to that of the US? You let your emotional grand-standing make you purposefully blind to reasoning and logic because you have it in your head that the American police are brutal overseers. man its easy, dont reach for your damn gun, its the first thing they tell you in concealed carry school. Tell them you have it on you, and obey the commands. If you are in that situation either YOU fucked up or they think you did. Either way if you just listen you will live. This dude chose not to and he ran, while reachin for his gun. Like i said this is tough. it could go either way. What he did was wrong, but there are several instances where guys have a gun and 'shoot' at cops and the cops don't shoot or kill them and place them under arrest. In my state if someone breaks in my house and shoots at me or assaults me, but they turn around and run away, if i shoot or kill them with their back turned to me i will go to jail. Why is it different with cops? |
