Deputy Facing 10 Years in Prison & a $250,000 Fine for Kicking Suspect

Former deputies Jesse Terrell, Trevor Fitzgerald, James Amideo, Cody Hoppel and Adam Crawford are accused of hitting and kicking Price in the head, neck and shoulder after he had put his hands up and got on the ground. The U.S. Department of Justice indicted Terrell, who has since been fired.

The other deputies resigned and pleaded guilty to federal civil rights violations. They have not been sentenced yet.

A federal grand jury indicted Terrell, and he’s facing 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The victim’s attorney said he was satisfied one of the deputies was indicted.

He said in a statement, “Mr. Price is satisfied with the efforts of the federal government to address the law enforcement conduct depicted on the video footage.”Records show Price has several drug charges still open from the arrest.

He’s currently free on bond.

Blair said in a statement, "The abusive and unprofessional actions they displayed shocked me to my core, and there was absolutely no hesitation for me to immediately inform the Florida Department of Law Enforcement of their actions, to immediately suspend those former deputies without pay and, ultimately, to request their resignation and/or termination.

"Blair said once the video surfaced, he turned everything over the Florida Department of Law and Enforcement. He did say that the public may have never seen it had the FDLE not released it.

Pastor and community leader Dr. Hugh Brockington II credited Blair for contacting community leaders and explaining what happened and the actions he took to punish the deputies."The way he handled it allowed us to make sure there was calmness in the community," Brockington said.

By pleading guilty or being found guilty, the deputies would lose their law enforcement certificates.

"Stop resisting"- Parlance for "you're about to get beat down no matter what you do at this point". Often combined with pulling up on a suspect while commanding him or her to get down.

LEOs like these guys are what spoil the reputation of honorable officers all over. At least there will be some accountability.

These are the same guys who couldn't get laid in high school and got stuffed in lockers. Now they travel in packs and use their badges and guns to make up for a lack of true manhood. No better than the criminals they harass.
