Re: Denver Police Shoot Pepper-Balls At Non-Protester (#59)
So, I guess we can just forget about our rights as citizens to freely assemble for redress of grievances WITHOUT INFRINGMENT. Your view sounds like Nazi Germany. "Be a good citizen, and obey." My view is "Be a good citizen, and hold your government, and people who act in it's behalf, to the highest standards possible." The guy getting hit with pepper balls is NOT a protester. He is NOT in the cop's faces, trying to make their life difficult. He is a normal human being, going about his business, and is attacked. He DIDN'T attack anyone. Watch the video and tell me how you would feel if that happened to you while you were just driving down the street. These guys are NOT experts. NONE OF THEM KNOW ANYTHING MORE THAN I DO. So, I want to see their reasons for doing what they do, and the reasons they think they are doing it FOR. Shooting anyone in the back as they flee is NOT good policing. If the guy had wound up with some bruises after the altercation with the cops, I would not have had a beef. But killing someone is reserved for the most dangerous people. And a drunk guy, running away, is NOT one of those. As far as your Taser scenario, he already fired it at the cops. Thinking a drunk guy is going to plan a car-jacking and kill someone over it, when he is just drunk, is pretty far-fetched. He was more likely to forget where he was within a block, and collapse on the grass and go to sleep. By your logic, police would be justified in killing any obstreprous drunk they came across. When was they last time you heard of a Navy "Shore Patrol" killing a drunk sailor? It doesn't happen. The drunk may wind up with extra bruises from the fight, but that is called a "learning experience". If the guy is falling asleep in his car, he probably wasn't very dangerous in the first place. I agree completely with your "conduct while in contact with police" advice. When I am stopped, the engine gets turned off, the dome light gets turned on, the window get's lowered, my wallet gets put on the dash in front of me, and my hands stay firmly on the wheel until the officer asks me to do something. That should be given as normal driver training, in my opinion. |

Re: Denver Police Shoot Pepper-Balls At Non-Protester (#59)
Wrong. Nazi Germany would’ve never put up with this crap to begin with. These people aren’t assembling peacefully. He was asked to move, instead ran his mouth for quite a while. If he was not a protestor then he had no business being there, plain and simple. Whatever he needed could’ve waited. Regardless, he was met pepper-balls for his stupidity |

If he were really so concerned about his pregnant wife/girlfriend, then he should have moved along like he was told. Fuck him.
