This incident has absolutely nothing to do a threat posed to an officer...it has to do with a suspect resisting a lawful arrest.

yes but an unarmed woman simply turning her back and taking a step or two doesn't warrant a stun gun. the cop was a pussy, pure and simple. as you saw, she fell and could well have gotten a concussion, broken nose, $2000 worth of dental work, stitches, etc....
i am generally not "anti cop" or pro ghetto, but you have to be objective sometimes- the cops fucked this one up and affirmed the negative image that they already have with blacks in the USA. not helpful, not serving and protecting.

An unarmed woman/man simply turning her/his back and resisting arrest is absolutely what a Taser is made for.

When someone fails to comply with an officer's lawful commands or attempts to make an arrest, the law allows that officer to use any force reasonably necessary to affect the arrest. In this case, the most reasonable and least damaging method would have been to use a Taser to gain the resisting individual's compliance. You can debate the reasons behind the arrest, but the manner of the arrest (the Taser) was the lowest force the officer had after his verbal commands were ignored.

Here is the standard use of force continuum: physical presence, verbal commands, physical force (depending on dept. policy), Taser (depending on dept. policy), O.C. spray (depending on dept. policy), baton, and finally a firearm or deadly force. A department can substitute/interchange physical force, OC spray, and Taser within the continuum as they chose. For instance, a department might allow their officers to ditch their batons and/or OC spray if the officer carries a Taser. Some departments (because of officer injuries) don't want their officers to use physical force before they use OC spray or a Taser.

Like I've always said...when an officer tells you to do something...do it. You can always debate/file a complaint/sue over the issue at a later time. Use common sense.
