Re: Cop Intimidates a Man from Video Recording Officers Piling on Top of a Man
I have no idea why there is seemingly such a large portion of police officers who object or get bent being videoed. The court rulings have been out there for some time and God knows the media have beat the drum relentlessly over citizens being allowed to film...so it's odd that there are still coppers out there that claim they don't know this. As I've said...I think it's the ham handed and assy way people have been going about their filming. There's no need to be so obvious unless you're trying to provoke a confrontation...and if so, be prepared to go to jail for a couple of days, pay bail, and hire a lawyer. I think this will all eventually fade away and law enforcement will get sued so often that officers will eventually get accustomed to being filmed by citizens (it's not like there aren't cameras everywhere anyway). I see these "do gooders" all the time filming police activity and they all seem to have an agenda and want to get a pay off by selling a video of police doing something wrong...they really don't seem to be so much "concerned citizen" as they are lottery players looking to cash in by getting the officer to react. If you want film the cops, then do it, but do it for the correct reasons and not that you're looking to cash in and get a pay off.

Re: Cop Intimidates a Man from Video Recording Officers Piling on Top of a Man
I try to do it too but i was waiting for something ridiculously funny to happen to them. carry a good camera with me all the time since i missed one funny incident years ago. Two police officers on a Honda wave motorcycle. Coming out of the building and rounding the parking driveway corner, driver pumped the gas and up the bike went, dumping the back riding police on his fat behind, took a few minutes to get up. when he felt okay to be able to get up, a car coming out rounded the same parking driveway corner and bumped the dumped policeman on his behind slightly, making him fall flat on his face. that was hilarious and im hitting my own head for not bringing a camera then. |

...and why are they all so damn fat?? christ, no wonder they shoot so quickly, it's not as if the majority of US cops could actually chase down a suspect... i always thought that police were trained, as in physical training as well as other types... if they aren't made to train they damn well should be, just like the military.. |

Re: Cop Intimidates a Man from Video Recording Officers Piling on Top of a Man
Yup...it's donut season when the academy is finished. There is no mandate to remain in shape after you graduate from the police academy. In fact...if agencies tried to enforce physical standards on police officers they'd be sued by the police associations and would be in violation of the American's with Disabilities Act. Being a police officer is a fairly sedentary job...most ofvwhat you do is drive around, take reports, occasionally arrest someone, occasionally investigate a crime, and eat fast food. You get home in the wee hours of the morning, only to get up in three hours and go to court on your day off. Your shifts change constantly and you have little time to work out or diet. As a job...it sucks. Yes it should be like the military, but it never will be...you can thank the damn associations. They cater to the lowest common denominator.

Re: Cop Intimidates a Man from Video Recording Officers Piling on Top of a Man
When I was a kid, we used to get hassled by the cops all the time. We whined about it and lied about what we were really doing. Turns out, the cops were hassling us for the things that we were - in fact - doing. Imagine that. |
