Canada: Toronto Officer Hit by Fleeing Vehicle

April 30, 2024. Around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers found two allegedly stolen vehicles near Overlea Boulevard and Thorncliffe Park Drive in Toronto, according to a news release issued by York Regional Police Friday.

Along with the force's canine unit, the officers tried to arrest the suspects, catching one after a short foot chase, police said. Another suspect got into a vehicle and drove at an officer, who was hit and thrown into the air by the car, which was captured in a video shared by police Friday.

The driver then crashed the car into a building, got out and ran away, police said. Police are still looking for that suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.

The 18-year-old Toronto man police were able to arrest at the scene has been charged with two counts of motor vehicle theft, among other crimes, according to police.

If he didn't want to get hit by the car why is he dressed like that?

Re: Canada: Toronto Officer Hit by Fleeing Vehicle

Why do people hit by cars always insist on getting up and walking/running afterward? Isn't the smart thing to do to not walk around and stress that broken knee further?

should have popped a full mag into that windshield. assault with a deadly weapon but not real smart to run directly into the path of the vehicle.
