Court decided the release of businessman Carlos Bruno Ferreira de Araújo. He was spotted in November last year, deliberately running over two people who drove on a motorcycle.

According to a complaint by the Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Ceará (MPCE) , the crime happened after leaving a party and was preceded by mutual aggression.

The indictments show that the accused began the chase, using his vehicle to collide with the two victims on the bike so they fell to the ground. Then he would have gotten out of his car to continue the assault.

At the beginning of December, Bruno presented himself to the Civil Police and was indicted. In January 2019, the court of Ceará received the complaint from the accusatory body.

On Thursday (21), Judge Eduardo Braga Rocha decided to release the businessman, replacing the prison of Carlos Bruno for precautionary measures . The decision involves that Ferreira uses an electronic ankle brace and attends court monthly to inform and justify his activities.

The lawyer Leandro Vasques, responsible for the defense of Carlos Bruno, considered the decision "worthy of applause". According to Vasques, the jail should only be destined to habitual criminals and that they carry true risk to the public order.

"The businessman Carlos Bruno did not want the death of the victims, because he stopped the vehicle before the collision and this fact was confirmed by the vast majority of witnesses heard in court plus the video one of the witnesses took.
