Bunch of Kids Involved in Cell-phones Theft
Jackson, MS - Flowood Police are searching for several thieves who worked together to steal cell phones Monday from a company that captured the crime on surveillance cameras. What's even more disturbing is that a small child took part in the theft. Bluephone wireless company owner Jared Laster was shocked by the bold theft at his business on Old Fannin Road Monday morning when five people walked in and walked out with $1,500 in cellphones. They took two I-Phone 6s and one I-Phone 6 Plus. What is most alarming is the boy, about 7 to 9 years old, who reached into the display case and took one. We're told a man and a man dressed as a woman in a long black wig also stole one each. "Seeing that they used a child like that. That's probably the worst thing because, you know, just a kid, seven or eight years old, looked like for him to be here and that's what he's been taught at that young age," said Laster. "You don't have anywhere you can go from there that's any good." The thefts happened around 11:15 a.m. and less than an hour later they entered Cricket Wireless on Ellis Avenue in Jackson to have the phones activated. The manager said it was a regular customer who had three children with them."Once they left, the young lady next door at the check cashing place next to us came over. She apparently already got the information about them stealing phones," said Cricket Manager Melisa Palmer. "Apparently the kids are used to this because when I saw the video it was like they were pros. "The wireless manager said the group activated two of the I-Phones. They were not reported stolen in time for Cricket wireless to check the serial numbers for theft. But Palmer notified Bluephone and provided them with information on the customers."I want them to kinda get their phones back, get justice," added Palmer. |
