Buenos Aires city police responded to a public plaza in February 2023 after receiving a call about a man abusing passers-by. The man broke a wooden pole and jabbed it at people as officers approached.

The officers used plastic chairs already in the plaza to fend him off and bring him to the ground without drawing their firearms. Two officers were injured during the confrontation. One suffered head trauma and was taken to a hospital. The man was arrested and charged with qualified threats and injuries.

Halton police say a driver is facing charges after they were stopped on Appleby Line in Burlington in a chair meant for backyard barbecues, not sitting behind the steering wheel.

Police shared two photos of a wicker folding chair.

"Just when you think you have seen it all," read the post. "Yes that's the drivers 'seat.'"

Officers stopped the vehicle and said its licence plates were removed and it was towed.

The driver was charged with unsafe operation of a motor vehicle and driving without a seatbelt, Const. Ryan Anderson said.

The charges were laid under a Part 3 summons, which is traditionally used for "some of the more serious offences" under the Highway Traffic Act, said Anderson.

"If the driver is found guilty in court, the fine or penalty will be set by the Justice of the Peace."
